In 2002, after depending for some years solely upon
friends and family for interest in and support of my photographic endeavors, I began to seek more objective, or at least less biased,
opinions of my work. Since then, I have submitted entries to a number of juried exhibitions and have been gratified to find that several have been
accepted, in spite of my rather traditional, realistic (cryptopictorial) documentary style.
Interestingly, with a few exceptions (i.e., three images from my "Lest We Forget" project and one from my
"Spanish Stonelight" series), none of the images chosen by the various jurors relate to the vast majority of my work presented on
this web site. This turn of events has given me the idea to lump into one exhibit all of the images thus far chosen by jurors who are
otherwise unfamiliar with my work

I will do little in the way of explanation of the choices made by individuals I do not know personally, but I do
find the chosen preponderance (almost half, depending on how you count) of street scenes to be interesting. Clearly, their selection is somewhat
dependent upon those images which I initially submit for review, but I believe my selection of submissions has been fairly
representative of the subject matter presented on the web site thus far.
In any event, one might hazard a generalization that interest in street photography is still alive and well in
this country (in spite of the general American trend away from the neighborhood street as a focal point for socialization). And from
my standpoint, continued interest in everyday happenings in anywhere settings, regardless of the Age in which we find ourselves
living, isn't a bad thing.
